Background

Last issue Luke Cage was forced to give himself up to Norman Osborn so The New Avengers could escape. Will Osborn help Luke with his medical problems?

Story Details

Luke is taken into H.A.M.M.E.R. custody while The Dark Avengers look for The New Avengers. Iron Patriot goes after the original Ms. Marvel and gets knocked out for his trouble. The Dark Avengers’ MS. Marvel A.K.A. Moonstone confronts The Night Nurse, while Hawkeye, Wolverine and Spider-man, (A.K.A. Bullseye, Daken and Venom) hunt down the others. They are attacked by Spider-Woman, Captain America, Spider-man, Ronin and Mocking Bird. Ares joins the battle which forces The New Avengers to retreat.

At The Hoods hideout, The Hood has returned to fins his crew have left him for Dr. Jonas Harrow and he’s not happy. On the H.A.M.M.E.R. helicarrier the medical staff is trying to operate on Luke but again his unbreakable skin is getting in the way. Osborn revives Luke with a repulsor blast and tells “Ms. Marvel” to get Jonas Harrow. At the New Avengers’ hideout Jessica Cage is arguing with her mother about the life style Luke and she are living while raising Danielle. Jessica tells her what they are doing is right. The New Avengers return without Luke and Jessica flies off to find him. Ms. Marvel catches up with her and tells her they will find him and they have a plan. In the H.A.M.M.E.R. helicarrier Jonas Harrow has activated his power drainer so the medical team can perform surgery on Luke. “Hawkeye” asks why Osborn is helping Cage when he should let him die, Osborn tells him that he has more to offer than just dying.

General Comments

Again another issue where not much actually happens. Both teams have a minor skirmish and Luke is treated in hospital, oh and The Hood is back even though he wasn’t gone for a single issue! More of the same from the New Avengers creative team but so far this arc has been totally about putting everyone back to where they were months ago. I’m not impressed so far but I’ll stick with it for now.

Overall Rating

2 webs – solid art but this issue feels like pure filler.
