Background

Parragon are currently the most active of the Marvel/Spider-Man Colouring and Activity book publishers in the United Kingdom. They keep themselves busy with a steady flow of (generally) high-quality products, each with a slightly different twist.

This one features "Cool Moving Stickers".

Story Details

What is a "Moving Sticker"? It's a small (about 1.25" x 1.5") transparent rectangular box with a sticky backing. At the back of the box is a background scene illustration, and inside the box is a tiny cardboard cut-out super-hero figure which is free to rattle around inside as the whole thing is moved. There are six of these moving stickers in the plastic shell-case built into the front of this book.

The book itself is a standard 8.5" x 11.6" with 48 full-colour pages and a square-bound glossy cardboard cover.

Inside you will find a mix of fact pages, colouring pages, "how-to-draw" information for your favourite Marvel heroes, along with a few puzzles and games.

General Comments

Much of the content is borrowed from previous Parragon books (especially the "how to draw" content and the colouring pages). But I definitely get the feeling that Parragon does actively work over time to extend, grow and modify the pool of material that they use in their products. Combined with the variety of different gimmicks that they bring to most of their offerings, there's usually a reasonable mix of "seen that before" versus "Hmm, I think that's new".

I did note that Parragon has changed its Marvel branding. Previous books were branded "Marvel Super Heroes", but this one is purely "Marvel". I guess we'll see this new branding for a few years, before it changes again to something new. Got to keep up with the times.

The other "keeping up to date" factor in this book is the specific presence of Ant-Man. He's not on the cover, but he does appear on two of the pages inside, clearly a nod to the 2015 Ant-Man movie.

Spider-Man naturally has half a dozen pages of dedicated content, along with Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, and various other Avengers. Wolverine gets a meagre three pages. Fame is a fickle thing, eh Logan?

Overall Rating

This book lives up to the high production values that you'll find in most Parragon products. It is bright, fresh, and at £4.99 cover price, is perfectly good value.

I give it a solid Three Webs rating.
