The Amazing Spider-Man: Funfile (Funfax/DK)

With all the movie tie-ins at the moment, it's nice to at least see something new on the bookshelves. Here's a case in point - it's a FunFile, which is kind of like a FiloFax for kids, but with some puzzles and games to make sure that it doesn't just get stuck on a shelf.

Story Details

At 7.5" x 6.5" this FunFile features a hard folder with spring ring-clips holding loose pages inside. There's a magnetic clip closer which instantly gains cool factor points.

In terms of content, there's four colored tabs separating the section: "Personal & Diary", "Information", "Web-Slinging Fun" and "Extras and Notebook". Personal starts with your name and address, then prompts you to list your friends, and then gets into "My favourite Spider-Man story..." and "If I could be Spider-Man for a day I would...". Yes, of course, you'd spend it at home in bed with MJ. But this is for a younger market, so clean up those thoughts! Then there's a list of all day days of the year, with enough space for a couple of lines of writing on each day.

Under "Information", there's profiles of all the major Spidey characters and a huge pull-out maze to solve. Under "Web-Slinging Fun" there's some more puzzles and games (though not enough pages here sadly). Finally under "Notes and Extras" there's some stickers to put on your diary, and a book mark. Plus a notepad of Spidey notepaper with 20 or 30 pages.

General Comments

This is &5.99 in the UK, roughly US$10 if you can find it in the States. There's not a lot of material, but what is there is very high quality color and presentation. I can't help think that this would really be a huge hit with any pre-teen or early-teen Spidey fan.

Overall Rating

I'm going to recommend this one pretty highly with a solid four webs. A ton of fun, if you have an excuse to buy one, then don't resist the urge!
