Background

How many different ways can Bendon Publishing package, rename, reformat and re-release the same collection of "officially authorised" coloring and activity pages from the 2012 "Amazing Spider-Man Movie"?

Well, think of a number. Call it "N". The answer seems to be "N + 1".

Story Details

Here's yet another ASM movie activity book that I stumbled across on eBay. This one is formatted as a pocket book, square-bound on the left hand side. Glossy soft card cover, including some holographic sparkles. Six is 5.2" x 8.2" with 160pp.

Inside is (yet again) the same old selection of puzzles, games and coloring pages that have graced all of the other Bendon movie tie-in coloring books. Scrawny Spider-Man is by far the number one star of the book. Peter and Gwen get a few pictures too, while the Lizard and Doc Connors settle for came status, appearing in only a page or two each.

This book also features a single page of stickers, none of which I found appealing in the slightest. They are garish and irrelevant.

General Comments

I've reviewed the same set of activity pages eight times already and I have long since run out of original things to say about them. The artwork aims for a modern and gritty feeling, and I guess it almost succeeds. There's not much variety in the Spidey poses, but the mix of puzzles and games is varied (if not particularly inspired).

Overall Rating

More of the same old, same old.

As for the stickers, rather than being a highlight, the stingy single page of ugly and poorly-designed content serves only to highlight the ignorant and soulless nature of this book.

Two webs.
