Last issue Mockingbird was rushed to hospital after being shot. The New Avengers were starting to believe they were set up by Victoria Hand, a former H.A.M.M.E.R. agent who tipped them off about the HA.M.M.E.R base. In the present, Mockingbird is in hospital being operated on. Hawkeye tells the team he wants H.A.M.M.E.R. and Superia taken care of before Mockingbird wakes up. In 1959 Fury’s team are still in shock over seeing Captain America. Fury tells Kraven and Creed to go after The Red Skull, Namorta to find some water so she doesn’t dry out. The rest of the team decide to deal with “Captain America“. Back in the present Wolverine is interrogating one of the H.A.M.M.E.R. agents the team captured earlier. In 1959 The Red Skull is trying to escape when Karven and Creed catch up to him. During the brief fight The Red Skull sees his Captain America be defeated by Fury and almost escapes aboard a submarine when he's captured by Namorta. Back on land Fury opens the case The Red Skull was carrying. Fury asks him what he did. The Red Skull tells him they will all burn when Creed kills him.

In the present Victoria Hand is confronted by Superia. Who wants to know why Hand betrayed her. Hand tells her she’s being watched and she had to. But now Steve Rogers trusts her she can help H.A.M.M.E.R. become what it’s supposed to be.

General Comments

So the 1959 Captain America wasn't anyone of note. It appears The Red Skull has somehow created his own super soldier serum. I'm not sure how this ties into the present but it could have something to do with Superia being more powerful than usual.

It also looks like Fury's "Secret New 1959 Avengers", (There's a title for you Marvel!) have accomplished their impossible mission and have split up. As I've said before while I like the line up and the idea but using the Avengers name doesn't make much sense. Anyway that part of the story looks nearly finished so I can move on.

Overall Rating

3 webs yet again. Good art and a solid story but nothing that really stands out. With "Fear Itself" on the horizon and something large with H.A.M.M.E.R and Norman Osborn on the way expect some big changes, (YAY! More changes) coming to the team in the future.
