Background

This 2015 product from Phidal is a companion to the Spider-Man: Stuck On Stories (Phidal).

Story Details

Just like its sibling, this one is box-format, 8" x 10" by 1.5" deep.

Opening the front cover reveals five double-page action/play scenes. Each of these pages are thick cardboard (not paper). The five scenes feature Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Lizard, Electro, and Kraven appear. There's also a one-page scene with Spider-Man alone.

On the right-hand side, in the main body of the box, there is a playmat some 30" x 20" featuring four more city scenes, without text.

There is also a compartment hold 12 plastic figures on stand-up bases – Spider-Man, Black Cat, and 10 classic villains. Each figure is approximately 2" tall and is pre-painted.

The art-work is the very popular and often re-used material taken from the Marvel Books (Origin Story) series (published beginning in 2011).

General Comments

We don't normally include "toys" in our database. But there's enough "book" here to merit its presence on the site.

This is a very simple set, but attractive and well-made. The figures, the art-work, and even the packaging. All are appealing to the eye, with bright colors and strong lines. There's enough content to get kids imagination started, but then plenty of scope for independent play.

Overall Rating

Another great product from Phidal.
