Tony Stark is asking Henry Pym for a second opinion on who is sending the emergency signal and where they are. They seem to agree and Hank gets quite excited – we just don’t know why yet.

In inner space, the red head is hiding but gets ambushed by some of the locals who capture her. She escapes, seemingly disappearing then reappearing in a nearby jet. The escape is short lived though as the jet is shot down.

Back on Earth, the Avengers have assembled in Central Park. The signal is coming from there, or rather from the space inside of that area; that area being the same place as where Janet van Dyne fell during the Skrull invasion. Is there a chance that the signal is from her? Captain America, Thor, Iron Man and Giant Man are going to shrink themselves down and investigate. Wonder Man appears and wants to help; his physiology may be more suited to the shrinking process as it’s a lot smaller than Giant Man normally goes. Hank doesn’t want to risk it following Simon’s recent behaviour and so the four go in as planned whilst the other Avengers keep watch.

In inner space, the Avengers struggle to acclimatise but manage to track down the red head. It is indeed the Wasp, who is very happy to see them. Their reunion is cut short by another jet firing on them. This one is flown by the "godfather" of the region, Lord Gouzar, a centaur who stands in their way of returning home.

General Comments

The story is progressing nicely. This isn’t just a filler story as we normally get in multi-issue arcs – stuff actually happens to further the plot! Tony Stark puts together the data with Hank Pym’s help and they figure out the signal may be from their lost comrade and yes the mysterious red head is in fact Janet van Dyne. Long thought dead following the Secret Invasion, but in fact alive and very, very small in inner space. So another “dead” Marvel character is resurrected, I’ll wait until the reason behind her survival is revealed before rolling my eyes! Lord Gouzar interrupted Wasp from telling this story but hopefully we’ll find out next time. I did like the reunion between the original Avengers with Wasp warmly kissing each of her rescuers – I thought it was a nice touch and a nod back to the original team (albeit without Hulk). Nice to see the Wonder Man redemption mini arc ticking along nicely too.

Overall Rating

Just as good as the last issue.
