I was talking to my local comics behind-the-counter-guy, and he mentioned how JMS seems to have brought a lot of Babylon 5 fans on board when he started doing Spidey. Great, he reckons, except they do have a bit of an annoying habit of saying how the last 35 years of Spidey were completely rubbish, and how nobody did anything worthwhile until JMS came along.
Hmm... well, I'll leave it to you to draw your conclusions on that front.
