Staff : Andrew Miller
Introduction: I've been a long-time reader of the site, since 1996 at least, but didn't take the plunge to become a staff member until mid-2006. At that time I made a career change from academics to public service. I'm glad I did, but it must be said that government work does not satisfy one's creative urges the way that academia can. As a result, full of pent-up energy, I volunteered for the site and the rest is history. Collects: Ultimate Spider-Man, New Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man, and the other core titles intermittently. I also have a complete run of volume 1 of Spider-Woman. Why Spider-Man: I follow writers more than characters, and I think that Brian Bendis is the most talented writer at Marvel, followed closely by Dan Slott. So it's only natural that I follow their books. Add to this a love of Spidey, which I've had since childhood, and the rest is history. Spider-Woman I had no brief for before I began writing here: I admired Al Sjoerdsma's work on the Looking Back series, and I wanted to do something similar. Ye Olde Editor offered me a gig doing the Spider-Woman title, which I accepted to earn my spurs. Now that I'm deep into the book, though, I find I appreciate it much more than I thought I would! Favourites: The Roger Stern run from the mid-80s, mostly. I also have a sneaking admiration for some of the stories widely deemed horrible: Maximum Carnage for one, and the Scarlet Spider era for another. (Don't tell anyone, or I'll lose all my credibility.) Andrew Miller may Edit his/her details.
