Background

This sticker book is 8.25" x 11.75" with a soft card cover. It features 16 black and white pages of coloring and puzzles, plus a centerfold of over 25 "re-usable" stickers to spread around the place.

A publication of Alligator Books, this is almost certainly a UK-specific product which you won't find in the U.S. The cover price is three pounds UK, though I purchased it for two pounds in a remaindered book discounter.

Story Details

The artwork in the coloring and puzzles is the same as from the Spider-Man Jumbo Coloring Book (Alligator), which is the same as the U.S. series of Spider-Man Color/Activity Books (Meredith). That is, it's art from Ultimate Spider-Man extracted by computer and suffering somewhat in the process.

The puzzles are crazy easy. Can you connect Spidey's top with his bottom half? Be sure you don't confuse it with Doc Ock's lower half or the Black Cat's lower half. I'm not sure which is the Black Cat's best half, lower or upper. But she gains little from being bisected.

The stickers are at least full-color and high quality, though the artwork is a bit of a mismatch, I spotted both Ultimate Green Goblin and Classic Green Goblin. Same for Doctor Octopus. Looks like the graphic designers just grabbed stuff from wherever they could find it.

General Comments

There's no love in this book, it's clearly been quickly produced at a minimum cost by people who have no love for or knowledge of Spidey. There's hardly any pages in here, and those that are present are far from high quality. You're basically buying this book for the stickers and little else.

Overall Rating

On the plus side there's a glossy cover and shiny stickers. On the minus is the lack of any other real content. All that glisters is not gold. Two webs.
