In Hell’s kitchen The Hood uses the Asgardian Norn stones to power up his team. Over in Brooklyn, Steve Rogers and Bucky are checking over the rubble of Steve’s home when they are attacked by The Living Laser, The Corruptor and some H.A.M.M.E.R. troops. During the fight The Corruptor uses his powers to make Bucky turn his gun on himself. In Manhattan, Spider-Man and Spider-Woman are running recon on The Avengers Tower. They discuss Spidey’s relationship with Osborn and how he’s dealing with Osborn being in charge. Back in Brooklyn Steve finds his old photon shield only to be attacked by Bucky, who is under The Corruptor’s power. Back in Manhattan, Mandrill and The Griffin are talking about how The Hood is using them. Mandrill tells The Griffin that this is their chance to make it to the A list. Mandrill then spots Spider-Man and Spider-Woman and they decide to attack.

Back in Brooklyn, Steve is telling Bucky to fight The Corruptor’s influence. Bucky shoots at Steve, but Steve uses his photon shield to deflect the bullet into The Corruptor which knocks The Corruptor into The Living Laser, knocking him out. Back in Manhattan Spidey notices that The Griffin is stronger than usual, while Mandrill has taken control over Spider-Woman and tells her to tell him where The Avengers are hiding.

General Comments

Typical first part of a story by Bendis. Lots of set up and very little action. It's nice to see Steve Rogers back in the pages of New Avengers

Overall Rating

As usual this issue will read much better as part of a TPB or as part of a finished story.
