Marvel team up is just that, the teaming up of some of Marvel's most popular characters. Here they are put into situations, where more than not, depending on each other will win the day over acting solo.

This is the first part of Freedom Ring. We see Spider-Man in the recap and nowhere in the story. The story takes place right after the Ringmaster is defeated and Captain America takes charge of the ring made from the Cosmic Cube. Cap is attacked by the M.O.D.O.C. Squad and loses the ring during the battle. The ring falls to the ground unnoticed. The next morning we are introduced to a group of friends. The main focus is on a man named Curtis. He and his friends discuss the complexities of bring your own condiments to a diner. Curtis wonders if Jeffery, the waiter was paying special attention to him. Outside the diner, Curtis finds the ring. At his apartment, Curtis discovers the ring's secret. After freaking out, he calls his friend Troy to come over. As Troy makes his way to Curtis' house, Captain America is scolded for losing the ring by S.H.I.E.L.D. head Miss Hill. Back at the apartment, Curtis and Troy experiment with ring. After a long night of fun, they go for more breakfast. It is there, that Jeffery asks Curtis out on a date. Curtis accepts the offer. In a secret bunker under Tokyo, a body very familiar to Marvel Team-Up readers starts to regenerate a head.

General Comments

I thought this was an interesting way to take a course of events that spanned numerous issues and start a new story with it. This story had absolutely nothing to do with Spider-Man, so that was heartbreaking. Otherwise, we'll see how this goes.

Overall Rating

A solid start to a five part series.
