Marvel Heroes: Colouring Book (Alligator)

Background

This is one of three (perhaps more) "Marvel Heroes" colouring and/or activity books published by Alligator in the UK during 2009/2010. Strangely, of the three that I own from that series, the Marvel Super-Hero line-up includes Spider-Man in this book only.

Story Details

Physically this book is large (8.x" x 11.7") when seen from the front, but relatively slim in page count, with 48 pages on clean white newsprint.

All of those pages are "colouring" pages, featuring one Marvel hero, sometimes with a villain co-star. The sole exception is the final page which features the odd team-up of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Wolverine. Spider-Man features in seven of the pages, either by himself, or with Doc Ock or the Lizard.

General Comments

The artwork is purely line-art, no inking or shading. I'm pretty sure I've seen some of these images in other books from Alligator and/or other UK publishers. But they're inoffensive, and perfectly adequate for some kid just wanting to colour-in between the lines with crayon or felt-tip markers.

Overall Rating

This book originally retailed for £2.99, which is a bit under US $5. With a nice glossy cover and high-quality paper, that's probably a totally fair price for a solid mid-range product.

So I'm gonna give it a perfectly serviceable Three Webs.
