Back in May 2004, Joss Whedon and John Cassidy teamed up to write Astonishing X-Men. It was something of a coup for Marvel to get Joss Whedon after the success of his various TV projects, and a big deal was made of it at the time. The monthly comic came out at a galacial pace, and managed just twenty-four issues in the following four years. This comic is the coda to Whedon and Cassidy's run. It follows directly on from Astonishnig X-Men (Vol. 3) #24.
