Background...

In Sensational Spider-Man #0, Spidey's old enemy Mysterio hired a certain villain by the name of Armada to steal a revelutionary new D.I.T (Digital Imagery Transmission) chip, which can emit thoughts as holographic images.

Through the previous "Return of Spider-Man" storyline Mysterio is busy buying a TV station as Randolph Hines and turning it into an overnight sensation by hypnotizing his viewers into "MysteryVision" addicted zombies. Can Spidey stop him? Read on...

Feb 1996 : SM Title : Sensational Spider-Man (Vol. 1)
Characters: Ben Reilly, Carradine, Jessica, Mysterio I (Quentin Beck)

Newspapers warn of the Blizzard of the Century approaching New York as Ben Reilly meets Jessica at the Daily Grind. As Ben talks to Jessica she explains that she is a freelance photographer, and she obviously has an interest in Spider-Man. Why? That is yet to be revealed. Anyway, while talking to his new friend, Ben bumps into Dr. Ramirez, the inventer of the D.I.T chip. As Spidey, Ben learns that the chip is being used to hypnotize the viewers of MysteryVision.

Spider-Man goes to check out MysteryVision, and finds out that the new media sensation is actually the work of none other than the newly-garbed bubble-less Mysterio (now his costume makes it look like his head's on fire). The master showman is finally receiving the recognition he believes he deserves, simply by imagining his bizarre programs and using his ill-gotten D.I.T chip. Now, he wants exclusive coverage on the death of Spider-Man!

This promises to lead into a great second and third episode.
