Comics : Funtastic Tattoo Book

This story is part of a Lookback Series: Book of the Month Club

Background...

I'm guessing that in 2002, Funtastic jumped the gun a little. They brought out a range of activity books a little bit ahead of the main movie blitz. There were six different books... a Coloring Book, a Sticker Book, a Bumper Book (just a bigger coloring book), a Tattoo Book, and a Paint with Water Book.

The sixth book was a smaller activity book (coloring, spot the difference, finish the picture, etc.) which came in a bagged pack along with the coloring book (also available separately), and a box of four crayons.

No Month 2002 : SM Title : Spider-Man Color/Activity Books (Funtastic)

This is the tattoo book. It has sixteen pages, which feature the same coloring pictures that are in all the other books. Plus there's a centrefold with a half-sheet of temporary tattoos, about 16 tattoos altogether. A bit of a scam, really!

This was re-released as Funtastic Tattoo Book (Movie Version).

In General...

Tattoos are cool. But this is a bit of a rip-off. Half a sheet worth of tatts, and the rest is a skimpy few coloring pages on cheap newsheet.

Overall Rating...

Barely acceptable, two and a half webs.
