Comics : Spider-Man: Chapter One #0

Background...

How many comics in a 12 issue limited series? Well, 14 at least. Counting the alternate cover for Chapter One #2 (hey, I'm just trying to help my comic store stay in business) and this Issue #0 effort...

The cover boldly proclaims this as a "Collector's Item #0". They're absolutely correct - only a hard-core collector would buy this!

May 1999 : SM Title : Spider-Man: Chapter One

I could almost forgive the pointless, gratuitious re-telling of these three classic villain origins (Vulture, Sandman, and Lizard), if the art was of any value... but it isn't.

I could forgive it, if only it gave us new insight. But it doesn't.

I could forgive it, if only it provided a starting point for new fans... but it doesn't, it just confuses them.

This is pointlessness for the sake of... nothing really. Cutting down trees, perhaps.

In General...

Don't buy this book. You have been warned.

Overall Rating...

Half a web? Well, the paper is nice and glossy.
