Comics : Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #63

This story is part of an Arc: "Greatest Responsibility"
     Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3

Background...

This is the final story before the Scarlet Spider titles take over. It's a three part tale which quite unashamedly borrows from the "If This Be My Destiny" story from Amazing #31-#33, with the New Doc Ock standing in for the Old, Mary-Jane cast as Aunt May, and as a bonus - twice as many Spider-Men as in the original epic.

Oct 1995 : SM Title : Spider-Man (Vol. 1)
Characters: Ben Reilly, Doctor Octopus (Carolyn Trainer), Mary Jane Watson-Parker

Gil Kane/Tom Palmer/Howard Mackie share the credits for art and story. The art is a blast from the past with clean lines and bold colouring.

Scarlet and Ben fight Octopus and her purple-clad hoods in her underwater base. The prize is Seward's life and the steel container holding the cure for the radioactivity in MJ's blood.

In General...

Sound familiar? Amazing Spider-Man #33 perhaps.

Overall Rating...

Four and a half webs, and rising to a dramatic finish.
