Summary: Hulk vs. Kraven
|Reprinted In: Marvel Heroes (UK Magazine) #1 (Story 1)|
General "Thunderbolt" Ross has pulled Kraven the Hunter out of jail and given him the chance to hunt the must ferocious animal of all... the Hulk! Kraven brags how he once tamed a wild rhino simply by out-staring it.
Then Kraven baits his trap with a timid fawn. Yeah, a baby deer in the New Mexico desert. The Hulk accepts the bait, but when Kraven unleashes his robotic beasts, Hulk smashes them all. Robotic beasts? Kraven? Well, whatever. With his monsters defeated, Kraven tries to out-stare the Hulk. Bad move. The Hulk's terrifying red-eyed-gaze-of-fury is more than Kraven can handle. The former hunter is dragged off drooling to a padded cell. Meanwhile, General Ross agrees to let Hulk take the fawn and leave without a fight. Hulk accepts the deal.
For a mini-story in a kid's mag, this one is pretty good with an amusing twist. But what's even more hilarious is the Hulk's constant banter of semi-moronic social commentary. For example. [Looks like Banner's been watching television again] "Why do puny pundits lie to Hulk! Hulk not wear flag pin and hulk love America! Wait -- America always shooting at hulk! Maybe hulk hate America! Aarrggh! Hulk Confused!"
*Chortle*. OK, maybe you had to be there. But anyhow, this is way funnier than I expected. Four webs to scripter Al Ewing.
