Comics : Avengers (Vol. 4) #33
This review was first published on: Jul 2013.
The original Avengers have been reunited. The long thought dead Wasp has been found alive just very, very small in inner space (the Microverse) by a rescue team of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Giant Man. Now all they have to do is get back to the regular sized Earth…

Summary: Spider-Man & Spider-Woman Appear
Arc: Part 3 of "End Times (Avengers)"
Special Secret Agent Daisy Johnson arrives at Avengers tower wanting a Sitrep about the emergency signal the Avengers received. The other Avengers fill her in with Hawkeye confident they’ll be back soon. Later, after thinking Cap’s team has been gone for too long, they go to Central Park to set up a better perimeter around the rescue site.
In the Microverse, the Avengers are getting blasted at by Lord Gouzar’s forces. Thor tries to talk him down but it’s no good and the fight is on. Hank grows to his giant form but Pym particles don’t work too well in this place so it’s a risky move. Eventually the Avengers are taken down. Whilst in captivity they put together how Janet survived. The Skrulls had infected her with a virus turning her into a bomb, making her grow and overflow with energy. Wasp saw Thor about to strike her so she tried to shrink to get out of the way, but all the extra power made her shrink too much and she ended up in the Microverse without the means to get back. Lord Gouzar meanwhile has been trying to remove Iron Man’s armour so he can sell it and make a profit. This gives Tony a chance to gather some energy and blast the centaur across the room. The Avengers see their chance to break out, but will they be able to escape from Lord Gouzar’s forces?
Okay, so here is the filler issue of the arc! It's not too bad as we do at least find out how Janet survived and I thought it was quite a plausible reason. However, not much else happens story-wise. The classic Avengers are still stuck in the Microverse trying to evade Lord Gouzar and the other Avengers are awaiting their return.
The art is as good as it has been so far and there are a few funny moments on “regular” Earth to break up the fighting in the Microverse – one provided by Red Hulk of all characters! It’s a bit of a shame we’re once again treated to yet another “Avengers eating” scene. Whilst I like a bit of realism in comics to help ground them, it’d be nice if artists could come up with something else the Avengers do when they aren't out saving the world. At least it’s not them going to the bathroom! (Oh wait, they did that in New Avengers Annual (Vol. 2) #1!)
Slight drop in story quality as not much plot progression occurs. Let's hope it finishes with a bang!
