Background
Peter's has lived in various places through his long comic book career. This
profile will attempt to catalog the locations and make reference to images
whenever possible. It's a work in progress so please bear with us.
The Marvel Encyclopedia (Vol. 4): Spider-Man has a map of Manhattan which
indicates the geographic location of many of these places, the lookup reference
numbers are provided where available. A revised map is available in Marvel
Atlas #2. A very early map was provided in Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1)
Annual #5 (Story 2).
In order, Peter has called the following places "Home".
- Aunt May and Uncle Ben's Home, Forest Hills. First seen there
Amazing Fantasy #15. Not shown on Manhattan Map (off eastern edge of map).
For images, see Spider-Man: Parallel Lives.
- In Amazing Spider-Man #46, Peter moves into an apartment he shares with
Harry Osborn. Manhattan Map [13] in East Village, "a few blocks from campus".
The apartment is trashed by a pumpkin bomb in Amazing Spider-Man #136.
It was profiled in Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) Annual #4 (Story 5).
- In Amazing Spider-Man #138, Peter moves in with Flash Thompson, but
doesn't stay long.
- In Amazing Spider-Man #139, Liz Allan finds a new apartment for
Peter, on 12th Street in Chelsea. Amazing Spider-Man Annual #13 (Story 3)
gives an apartment plan and pictures, and gives the address as 410 Chelsea St.
(right off 8th Avenue). Manhattan Map [4]. It was profiled incorrectly in
Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) Annual #13 (Story 3), and corrected in
Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) Annual #15 (Story 3).
- The Chelsea apartment is firebombed in Web of Spider-Man #11, and Peter
has no insurance. Peter continues to live there, and MJ helps him clean it up
and paint it a little in Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #273. Mrs. Muggins
threatens to evict Peter, but Mary Jane Watson helps him out and has the
place completely repaired in Web of Spider-Man #15.
- Peter and Mary Jane get married, and return together to the Chelsea St.
Apartment after their honeymoon. But Mary Jane is having some notable success,
and they can afford a better place. In Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #300
they move into the Bedford Towers, which is owned by Jonathan Caesar. They
move their furniture in Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #301. Bedford Towers
was profiled in Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) Annual #22 (Story 3)
- When Caesar is imprisoned (for kidnapping Mary Jane), the Parkers are
evicted from Bedford Towers in Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #314. They move
back into Peter's old room with Aunt May at Forest Hills.
- They stay with Aunt May for a while, but struggle for lack of privacy. In
Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #321, Harry Osborn offers them the loft
on the top floor above the apartment in Soho where Harry and Liz themselves
live. Mary Jane moves in during Web of Spider-Man #57. Their house-warming
party is held in Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #326. The Soho Loft was
profiled in Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) Annual #24 (Story 4).
- In Spectacular Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #205, Liz Allen tells the Parkers
that she has sold the entire building and they all have to leave. Mary Jane
quickly uses her new-found wealth and her contacts and they take out a mortgage
on a Brownstone on the Upper East Side, as described in Spectacular Spider-Man
(Vol. 1) #206. The building is first seen in Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1)
#386. Moving Day is shown in Spectacular Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #208
(Story 2). Peter is helped to move by his "parents", Richard Parker and
Mary Parker. See Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) Annual #28 (Story 5) for
sketches of the Brownstone, including its spacious secret "Spider-Lab" in the
attic.
- Peter and MJ move to Portland briefly at the conclusion of The Greatest
Responsibility, allowing Ben Reilly to become Spider-Man. The place they
stay is shown in Spider-Man: Final Adventure #1.
- They return to New York in Spider-Man #66 to investigate the "Spider-Man
Skeleton". They stay in a hotel temporarily (Peter refers to the hotel as "The
Ritz" in Sensational Spider-Man #4).
- In Spider-Man #69 JJJ offers Peter a job, and they decide to stay in New
York. They move back into Aunt May's place, which MJ's Aunt (Anna Watson)
has seemingly maintained - e.g. as shown in Web of Spider-Man #127. In
Amazing Spider-Man #413 Peter and MJ unpack some of their things, and the
rest of their stuff is shipped from Portland in Spider-Man #70. Living with
Aunt Anna is difficult for Peter/Spider-Man. Anna is suspicious of Peter's
comings and goings, and eventually accuses him of having an affair (in what
issue?).
- Aunt May returns to life in Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #441 courtesy of
the "John Byrne Relaunch". Peter, MJ and Aunt May leave (decide or are forced
to?) Forest Hills and move into a Luxury Apartment (shown in what issue?). The
rent is paid by MJ's modeling income. Anna Watson remains in the Forest Hills
house.
- Then Mary-Jane is seemingly killed in Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #13.
In Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #15 Peter goes to Latveria to search for her,
leaving Aunt May to visit back at Forest Hills with Anna Watson. Peter returns
in Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #16 to find that MJ's manager has screwed him
over and his rent is overdue.
- Peter is forced to stay at the down-market "Apple Hotel" in Peter Parker:
Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #16, before being permanently evicted when his stuff is
thrown onto the street in Peter Parker: Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #17.
- Randy Robertson suggests in Peter Parker: Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #18
that Peter could maybe move in with him. Peter does move in, as shown in
Peter Parker: Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #19. His neighbors included Caryn
and Barker.
- MJ came back (when). Peter moved into a new place, in Amazing Spider-Man
(Vol. 2) #30.
- Peter & MJ get a small apartment together.
- Apartment destroyed, they move into Aunt May's old place in Forest Hills.
- Forest Hills home burns down, they move into Avengers Tower.
- After Civil War, they spend some time on the run. Then as of One More Day,
he's back in Forest Hills, May is alive, and the house is magically restored by
Mephisto.
UNSORTED: There's a map or photos of an apartment in Web of Spider-Man Annual
#3 that is yet to be inserted into here.
