Cards : 1992 McFarlane Era

The casual observer of Spider-Man cards from the late 80's and early 90's may be forgiven for thinking that Todd McFarlane was the sole writer and artist for Spider-Man comics, ever.

McFarlane was the subject of the first ever Spidey card set - 1989 McFarlane I, and then was also featured in the follow-up 1990 McFarlane II. And as if that wasn't enough, here he is shortly after in yet another dedicated series - The McFarlane Era.

Basic Cards

There are some major differences from the previous two McFarlane card series - the art on the front is glossy, richer color, and goes edge to edge. The series is more structured, and features descriptive text on the back of each card - and for the first there is a chase set of six sparkly prism cards.

The card stock is still pretty thin, and the sequel 30th Anniversary set is noticibly nicer still.

There are six prism cards in this set. I only have scans of three of them so far, two of my cards and one emailed scan which I merged in.
